Aquaculture Legislation Amendment Bill (No3) amendments proposed

On Monday two  Supplementary Order Papers (SOP) 264 and 265, proposing  substantial  amendments to the Aquaculture Legislation Amendment Bill  (No3) were  released.  Supplementary Order Paper 264 proposes amendments which allows iwi and the Crown  more flexibility in negotiating settlements under the Maori Commercial Aquaculture Claims Settlement Act 2004. Te Kōhanga Reo Trust Board Waitangi Tribunal claim to recieve urgent hearing

Te Kōhanga Reo Trust Board have announced that their Waitangi Tribunal treaty claim  will receive an urgent hearing by the Waitangi Tribunal.  Te Kōhanga Reo Trust Board lodged their claim to the Waitangi Tribunal on July 25 and their claim is to be heard next week.

Parliamentary inquiry into milk pricing

On Tuesday the  Government announced their support of a parliamentary inquiry into milk pricing.  Last week the Commerce Commission ruled conducting a full inquiry of its own  this lead to public outcry  and opposition parties pushing for a Parliamentary investigation  into milk pricing .  The Commerce Select Committee which will lead the inquiry will be chaired by Labour Party member  Lianne Dalziel.   Prime Minister John Key says terms of reference could be drawn up by the committee in the next week or two.
